Stuff you can safely ignore

One of the previewers sent this strip, and only this strip to one of his relatives, a professional author and publisher (this guy). The response was “…the example you sent by your friend (with the stick figures) is intellectually engaging, suitable for New Yorker magazine,” which was by a wide margin the single highest piece of praise I’ve ever received.

If anyone from the New Yorker is reading this, you’re welcome to contact me for permission to print any of my work. I’ll humor you just long enough for the whitecoats to arrive.

Transcript (for the hearing impaired… no wait)

Today’s strip uses the “Adam preparing coffee” sequence of images.

Panel 1

Adam
(thinking) Languages make no sense

Panel 2

Adam
(thinking) Who decided that all toasters in Spain were women?

Panel 3

Adam
(thinking) Or that all the toasters in Germany were male?

Panel 4

Adam
(thinking) Does that mean that whenever German toasters want to reproduce, they have to hitchhike to Spain?

Panel 5

Adam
(thinking) Mexican toasters must be really lonely, since we’re too lazy to assign genitals to our inanimate objects here in the US.

Panel 6

Adam
(thinking) Ours probably reproduce by mitosis.

Panel 7

Adam and Mike are at the computer

Mike
Did that comic have a punchline?
Adam
Don’t know. Don’t care.
